Why you should check out Meggs Cafe in Temple

I live about 20 minutes from Temple. TX – and I will be honest with you, I never check it out. I am always working in Waco, and when I leave it, I go somewhere much farther to explore.

So when I headed down south for an adventure, I thought I should stop by a brunch joint that everyone has been telling me to go to for years, Megg’s Cafe.

Megg’s Cafe has been open since 2010, and they support many local farmers. They change their menu with the season and use many local ingredients. They serve craft beer, wine and cocktails.

When we stopped by, we were just in time for brunch. My sister and I tried their mimosas made with freshly squeezed orange juice, and they were amazing! The juice was so fresh.

I also loved that they had Trivia Pursuit cards and Mad Gab cards at the table. Something you should know about me, I love board games, and I really love it when restaurants give you something to do when you wait for your meal.

We decided to split the avo benni, and the seasoning makes the dish. It is an eggs benedict with avocado, swiss cheese, everything spice and tomato. We opted for no tomato, but this is an amazing choice for anyone on a vegetarian diet.

The avocado benedict was served with house potatoes, another tasty addition. We also saw people with homemade muffins from Hamilton Bread Co., a bakery located inside the restaurant.

So if you aren’t able to stop in, be sure to grab a cookie or scone for the road.
