Why purging in December is great for your wallet and your life in general

Everyone always talks about Spring Cleaning – but honestly, the best time to get rid of stuff is right before Christmas. The Christmas Purge.

This year, my office was overflowing with PR boxes and Dirt Cheap finds. It had gotten to the point that I was putting off doing blog work because I was afraid to go into the office.

Honestly, I couldn’t even see my couch because it was covered in boxes.

Finally, it got to the point that my sister made me go through all my beauty products to make room for my new stuff. I made piles to give away to the girls at my office and piles that deserved to go straight to the trash.

Then, I went through the piles of PR boxes and did the same thing.

The purging became addicting.

I went through the cabinets in my kitchen. I went through my décor. Eventually, I had went through every corner of my home. During my clean out, I found things to sell, and I found great gifts for Secret Santa and White Elephant.

I ended up making money for Christmas presents during the great holiday purge. Quite honestly, I couldn’t believe more people didn’t suggest it.

Now, I have more room in my home for any new items from Christmas. My home is more prepared for a spring cleaning in the months tocome, AND I made a few extra bucks for some great Christmas presents.

Not to mention the money I saved on the presents I found while purging. I know I am not the only one with some great unopened products lying around because they use way less lotion than they buy (or candles for that matter).

So how about it, are you willing to do a holiday purge?
