Pumpkin Spice Dog Treats

Of course, I am super basic white girl in the fact that I am obsessed with everything pumpkin spice – but pumpkin is actually really good for dogs. This is why I made pumpkin spice dog treats

Go ahead and judge me – but pumpkin is a great ingredient to add to your dog’s diet.

Pumpkin puree is full of fiber, so it’s great for dogs who might be experiencing constipation or diarrhea. It is also great to feed along with dog food to aid in weight loss.

So just add pumpkin puree to your dog’s food, and your dog will feel fuller than usual but hasn’t eaten a ton of dog food.

For all of those reasons, I decided to make a batch of pumpkin spice dog treats for the fur-children this autumn. I had some adorable woodland creatures cookie cutters from Ikea that I thought would make the treats really pop.

Honestly, homemade dog treats are so easy. I used to even make homemade dog food (that was not as easy). After doing this, I will probably try to make a habit of doing this once a month.

I brought the treats to my parent’s house shortly after making them. They have 8 dogs – and there are 10 at the house when we visit.

Let’s just say the pumpkin spice dog treats didn’t last very long.

INGREDIENTS

3/4 cup of pumpkin puree

1/2 cup of peanut butter

1/2 cup of oats

1 egg

2 cups of flour

2 tbsp of water

INSTRUCTIONS

Preheat the oven to 250 degrees.

Combine all ingredients in a mixer. It will be very sticky and crumbly.

Roll the dough into a bowl. Flour a rolling pin and roll the dough flat. Using cookie cutters of your choice, start cutting out the treats.

Place the treats on a cookie sheet covered in parchment paper.

Bake for 10-15 minutes.

OPTIONAL: Drizzle peanut butter on the treats for extra tastiness.
