When I look back at when I got Schmidt, I always wonder how anyone thought it was a good idea for a 19-year-old to get her own dog.

I mean, everything worked out for the best, but there was definitely room for error. And then when I got the impulsive idea to get a second dog shortly after moving to Waco… someone really needed to reel me in.

Here I am, four years later, and I have two wild dog children that entertain me every single day. I don’t know how I could survive work from home without them – they are honestly my coworkers at this point.

It is so important for me to make good choices for both my doggos – and that’s why we have always trusted Blue Buffalo® for meal time. I feed them the BLUE Life Protection Formula™ Natural Adult Dry Dog Food because it features real meats. Plus, it contains their antioxidant-rich LifeSource Bits® as well as gives my dogs a blend of protein and carbohydrates that support their high energy.

And trust me, they have a lot of energy.

You can find Blue Buffalo® at Walmart!

I am also very excited to learn about the  partnership between Blue Buffalo® and Sierra Delta. This partnership allows Sierra Delta to supply service dogs to veterans.

When you buy BLUE Life Protection Formula or BLUE Wilderness™ dry food during the month of November Blue Buffalo® will donate $1 for every small bag of food sold, up to $275,000, to Sierra Delta Service Dogs for Heroes. Learn more here.

This partnership not only helps veterans in need, but it also helps save adoptable pets from being euthanized. Sierra Delta’s mission is to eliminate the shortage of service dogs to vets by training large shelter dogs to be service animals.

Shelter dogs have the ability to be trained and serve alongside a veteran during a very difficult time, and it gives them a new purpose.

This partnership is so exciting to me because my little brother has recently joined the Navy. His absence has greatly affected my family, and as a journalist, I have seen many people come back from serving duty and struggle to go back to civilian life.

I would hate that for my brother, and I know as a dog owner, dogs are able to guide you through almost everything. This service can actually save someone’s life.

As of right now, only 1 of 150 veterans in need of service dogs are currently served. With this partnership, we can help close the gap.
